Lemon Grove Estates is our first major project. It consists of eight homes, each on lots approximately 900-1000 square meters overlooking the Pacific Ocean. They are located about ten minutes outside of the town of Boquete, Panama, at an altitude of about 4000 ft. We have two designs, a 1450 sq ft two bedroom two bath with an octagon great room, and an 1800 sq ft three bedroom two bath design with a 670 sq ft great room. Both houses have the same features listed below.
The best selling market in Boquete is for houses under $200,000. There is a shortage of quality homes in this price range. The 1450 sq ft homes are offered from $180,000 to 190,000 depending on some individual characteristics and the 1800 sq ft home is being built as of this writing but is expected to be offered at $199,900.

What makes these houses affordable
Structure in bamboo is less expensive than steel and adds beauty.
Plycem/steel studs and sheetrock are lighter, less bulky materials that have lower embodied energy and are made locally.
Efficiency of labor: this system of plycem studs and sheetrock is expensively used in economies where labor rates are much higher, at $25-$125 per hour not $25 per day. When these systems are applied here we get faster, lower cost housing of higher quality.
Modular design: Efficiency thru repetition of designs using molds for most all structural components of the house. This results in decreased construction times, and increases in quality consistency. The house is pre-manufactured before assembly, while the foundation is being poured. All roof components are placed using GRAVITY, not suspension. Beautiful ceilings not hung sheetrock or an office ceiling.
PEX, more $$ in materials but faster, FAR better, much higher quality, very low problems and maintenance, conserves water and energy. A great sales and re-sale advantage!
Romex wiring: faster easier cheaper replacement of expensive conduit that is of equal quality.
Low Waste: Very low waste due to design. Money not spent loading cutting, and disposing of valuable materials.
Green, affordable, beautiful interiors, open floor plan, lots of natural ambient lighting, high ceilings, natural looking products and finishes, very low maintenance, made of materials impervious to insects and mold damage. These houses should be around for generations.
